We started out the month with a quick swim meet at DU...
Got this cute picture of some of the kids before the meet started.
Notice Cam in the front doing a karate chop...let's just say that is pretty typical Cam.
February has been a tad on the snowy side....BLIZZARD...
This is the terrace...you are looking at the 3 foot rock wall.
This is the nice mound of snow that decided to gather
in front of our second story picture window...
This is the back yard..and terrace.
The planter in the front is knee height...
just to put it in perspective for ya :-)
And when there is a BLIZZARD...you guessed it, schools are closed!!
The boys were so thrilled!
Even Jax...hurt knee and all...ventured out carefully in the snow
We finally dug ourselves out...just in time for Valentine's Day...
Cam loved his new snow leopard Webkinz!
And Mom and Dad celebrated at the Lady Antebellum concert!
(just a side note, not sure why it looked like my shirt had a "malfunction",
I was fully covered the entire concert..honest. )
It was such a GREAT concert! And we had great seats!
Besides a blizzard, swim meets, Valentines Day, and a concert...
we have been busy rehabilitating Jax's knee...
Jackson hurt his knee while swimming breast stroke during swim at the end of December,
and we have been battling it ever since. An MRI showed that he had a bone contusion
to his femur, but he also has some nerve issues going on.
If you wouldn't mind remembering him in your prayers...Prayers are much needed...
as we are going on months of rest, PT, acupuncture and doctors visits and
he is still in pain. We are really hoping for improvement and some answers soon.
Sadly, he officially "hung up" his short course swim season...
but doing everything to try to get better for long course.
Including acupuncture...He has been a trooper. Poor guy.
Here is a photo of some of his needles...impressive huh?
And although this is a February post...
I have to include the State swim meet last weekend...
AND....
Denver Swim Academy finished FIRST place!!!
There were 48 teams competing at state and we are so proud to say
that DSA are State Champions!!Woot!
Here is Gavin (in front with his cap and blue goggles) with some of the team
And although Jax could not swim at the state meet...
He qualified and is considered part of the state team...
And Jax would not miss going to state to cheer on his brother and his teammates!
Jax has missed seeing everyone so much...
So good to see his friends and his coach, JoAnna!
State was up in Fort Collins, so we headed out for three days of swimming...
(minus Cam, he stayed with Granny:-))
And with such a big meet, as a mother, it was my job to ensure
Gavin was well rested...and well fed...
Gavin was well rested...and well fed...
Here is dinner at its finest in our hotel room. Notice how Gavin, at age 10,
still requires each food group not to touch! Really? when will he eat like a normal
human being. Guess it is my fault because I still cater to him!
The boys had a lot of fun. Cheering, swimming and hanging with their teammates..
Maybe a little too much fun! Gavin and his buddy, Colton,
got a hold of some whipped cream!
got a hold of some whipped cream!
But when it was time to swim, Gavin was all business...
Here he is behind the block before a race.
Wiping his hands on the block....his pre-race ritual.

Of course you hope that your child swims well at such an important meet, but Gavin surprised us and cut time in almost every event! The highlights were his 100 meter breast stroke. He made a zone cut and came in 5th overall. He also cut 5 seconds in his 100fly and 5 seconds in his 200 IM.
He was within top 10 in the state in 4 events-- not bad G-rocket!
Gavin swam incredibly well all weekend. We are so, so proud of him!

Here are Jax and Gav on the pool deck just before they announced that DSA won...
After they announced they won this is what happened...
And then...well, the coaches took a little swim too..in their clothes!
JoAnna was the first victim..
Then all the other coaches...Chris, Nick, Tori and Ryan took the plunge..
There were lots of high fives!!
What a great swim meet. Well done DSA!!
So honored to have been there and been a part of it!
