It was Mommy, Granny, and the boys who headed to the mountains for several days of relaxing, exploring and lots of fun.On the first day, we visited the Country Boy Gold Mine --We all put on our hard hats and ventured 1000 feet into the mine! It was amazing to think of the mine over 100 years ago and what the miners did to provide for their families. It was cold, wet, dark and VERY hard work. I think it gave the boys a new appreciation of life today for sure! The boys loved it though...and learning how to pan for gold was a big hit. Cameron found a ton of rocks---I mean "gold"-- and we are now very rich. :-) After striking it big gold panning, we were able to pet the sweet, little donkeys that roamed the property. We ended our visit on the 2 1/2 story "miner's slide." Granny was too afraid to try it but Gavin and Cameron had no problem. Jax did not get to try the slide -- because of his little "incident." We are not sure if it was altitude or low blood sugar but he decided to faint on us...right in donkey poop (we can all laugh now...). So, that ended our trip to the Country Boy Mine pretty quickly.
While up in the mountains we also took a paddle boat out on Lake Dillion. I think that was my favorite moment of the whole trip. The beautiful sky, the mountains, and my boys and Mom all giggling taking turns pedaling around the lake trying to look for fish to feed. Cameron brought bread to feed the fish and ducks but realized he ate all of the bread by the time we found any :-)
We also visited the local rec center that had AWESOME water slides. In order for Cameron to go the slides, he had to take a swim test and swim the length of the lap pool. He took it very seriously. He jumped in and swam all the way across, climbed out, and the life guard said " that was great." He said " YES! I can do EVERYTHING...SUPER SONIC!!" He was finally feeling like big kid!
Despite Jax's little "incident," as he is calling it, it was a fantastic trip. So nice to spend time with my boys and MY mommy :-)
