Gavin broke a record!

Today the boys had an amazing swim meet. Don't let little G's size fool you --he is one strong kid! Gavin broke the Hills West record in the 25 m butterfly and 100IM! It was so amazing to be there and watch him shine.

Gavin has been very close to breaking the record in the Fly all season--and today was the day. He cut almost 3 seconds off his personal best in his 25 Fly and took the record. It was great. (Just to explain how fast he swam...the person who came in second was 20 seconds slower than Gavin!)

He also completely surprised everyone and took the record in the 100IM! He asked what he need to break the record -- We told him about 5 seconds faster than his personal best....(possible... but a long shot). Well, he not only beat it but he beat the record by 10 seconds...shaving off 15 seconds! What an accomplishment Gavin!

They made two separate announcements over the loud speaker announcing Gavin's accomplishments as the new record holder -- pretty awesome :-)

Big Bro, Jax, let Gavin shine today ( it was certainly his turn)--although overshadowed by Gavin's new records, Jax did very well too. He shaved off 3-4 seconds in every event , making them all HIS personal best. AWESOME job Jackson! Jax is 1 second away from JO (junior Olympic) time in his 50m backstroke! WOW!

We are off to prelims, championships and All Stars....Swimming will slow down in August. But for now here is Gavin's record-breaking Fly video. Unfortunately, I did not tape his 100IM.
